Got a thank your card from Robb and Phuong yesterday for their wedding gift. I checked the few photos I took that day and this is my favorite. It was about 90 degrees and very humid. That's what you get with a July wedding.

We're going to be friends
I'm a little late to the White Stripes. This is from 'White Blood Cells' and also is in 'Napoleon Dynamite'. Thanks to m.b. for tabbing it. As best as I can tell it's pretty accurate. I can almost play it too.
Fall is here, hear the yell
back to school, ring the bell
brand new shoes, walking blues
climb the fence, books and pens
I can tell that we're going to be friends
Walk with me, Suzy Lee
through the park and by the tree
we will rest upon the ground
and look at all the bugs we found
safely walk to school without a sound
safely walk to school without a sound
Here we are, no one else
we walked to school all by ourselves
there's dirt on our uniforms
from chasing all the ants and worms
we clean up and now its time to learn
we clean up and now its time to learn
Numbers, letters, learn to spell
nouns, and books, and show and tell
at playtime we will throw the ball
back to class, through the hall
teacher marks our height against the wall
teacher marks our height against the wall
We don't notice any time pass
we don't notice anything
we sit side by side in every class
teacher thinks that I sound funny
but she likes the way you sing
Tonight I'll dream while in my bed
when silly thoughts go through my head
about the bugs and alphabet
and when I wake tommorow I'll bet
that you and I will walk together again
I can tell that we're going to be friends

Helen & Helene
Allow me to introduce Helen. She's the one on the left. She is my partner Dave's mother and she lives with us. She had a stroke in 2003, followed by a bad seizure and a broken hip. Her vocabulary consists largely of several words or phrases due to the stroke:
My friend Robb suggested a few months ago that it would be good for me to write about caring for Helen. So here we go.
- Yes
- No
- I don't know
- Merry Christmas
- Shit shit shit
- Personality changes

Quit Smoking - Day 2
Actually it's really day one, if I make it. Think I smoked 5 or 6 yesterday, last one being at 4 pm. Made it through the rest of the evening OK. This morning already had two traditional smoking opportunities come and go without too much difficulty.
The trick to the rest of today will be to avoid asking my smoking buddies at work for one. Got some gum to chew on, and mulling over the $120 or so a month that I'll save should help.

Kathy Cashel at Reno
Kathy was the middle set on 8/4. Got there a little late but enjoyed what I heard. Note that her guitar is being miked but it obviously is built for amplification. Interesting. Anyone know what kind of guitar it is?
Presidential Spheres
Taken this Saturday morning after an awesome run from TR Island parking lot, over the TR bridge, up to Georgetown and then across Whitehaven park to Glover-Archbold park. Back down to the capital crescent trail, the Key bridge, and Erik's trusty F150 truck.
Hello World
So I'm a little late to this blog thing but after discovering the joy that is posting photos on Flickr, I figured it's time. So hello.
What better thing to announce at the start of my blogging than to say it's really time to quit smoking. I've done it before, it's easy ha-ha. Want it to stick this time. Don't feel so good. Not to mention that I run and smoke so I'm likely to keel over from a heart attack on some wooded trail one of these days.
Got one cigarette left in my pack. Gonna smoke it and then, so help me God, try to avoid buying more and just go cold turkey.
